Sarah Brown, Global Patron of the White Ribbon Alliance

Sarah Brown, is President of the children's charity PiggyBankKids. Founded in 2002, this charity supports projects that create opportunities for children and young people in the UK and also administers the Jennifer Brown Research Fund, which supports groundbreaking research to save newborn lives and solve pregnancy problems.

During 2007, Sarah increased her charitable role in support of women's health - with a major focus on global maternal health and the health, wellbeing and educational opportunity of children and young people in the UK. She sits on the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists' Advisory Group to the International Board, who are exploring ways to use their network of qualified doctors to improve maternal healthcare in developing countries in support of the Millennium Development Goals.

In 2008, Sarah became the Patron of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, an international coalition of thousands of individuals and organizations spanning 148 countries formed to address the need to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for all women and newborns. WRA, a global grassroots movement, is uniting people from all walks of life to advocate for changes to ensure every woman's and newborn's access to quality health care before, during and after childbirth.

Sarah is Co-Chair of the Maternal and Child Health Leadership Group with Bience Gawanas, Social Affairs Commissioner for the Africa Commission. Over the past year, Sarah has been an international voice in the campaign to meet the Millennium Development Goal to improve maternal health reduce maternal mortality by 75 percent by 2015.

Sarah is also Patron of the following UK-based charities: Maggie's Cancer Care Centre, Wellbeing of Women, Women's Aid and the SHINE Educational Trust.
